On 8th March we celebrated International Women’s Day, and, as a proud female-owned PR business, we’ve all been taking the time to think about the women in our lives that inspire, uplift and support us most.
Catherine Linch
Catherine believes it’s important to have a ‘she looks like me’ role model to be an effective leader and to nurture professional relationships.
“My long-term business mentor is Margot Raggett, former CEO of leading creative PR business Lexis and founder of the Remembering Wildlife book series.
“Her business acumen, firm but fair expectation setting and consistent guidance has given me the self-belief and confidence to lead and grow our agency sustainably and profitably.
“Margot has been instrumental in my personal-professional development and to Pinstone’s success. It’s for that reason I thought of Margot to nominate as the woman I most look up to in marking International Women’s Day 2022.”
Melanie Page
Mel has been inspired by actress, presenter and activist, Joanna Lumley who she was lucky enough to meet following a live tour show!
“Joanna’s message was very clear: Treat people how you would like to be treated no matter who they are, you don’t know what they are going through. Pursue your dreams, put the work in and it will reap rewards.
“Oh, and ALWAYS say thank you and be kind.”
Amy Stinton
Amy has a passion for agriculture and second-to-none organisational capabilities – attributes she says comes from the influence of her mum.
“My mum doesn’t let anything defeat her. Helping my dad on our family farm for over 40 years, they are the ‘A team’, but my mum is the rock of the family.
“Seeing her achievements have made me the determined person that I am today.”
Hannah Lloyd
While the PR business tends to attract its fair share of career women, Pinstone’s specialism in the food and farming supply chain is more weighted to men. Hannah believes it is important to see an influential woman take centre stage.
“Minette Batters, President of the NFU, is an absolute powerhouse for the industry and one of the most impressive people to watch perform in an interview, however pressured.
“She proves what is possible when you nail your priorities and follow your passion.
“Her successful industry career that’s goes alongside driving her farming business forwards and being mum to twins is something I can definitely relate to!”
Diane Bristow
A positive role model often stays with you, and Di’s mum is a symbol of strength.
“My Mum is my inspiration.
“She’s been through a lot in her 60 years but is always strong in the face of adversity and puts others needs before her own.”
Beth Dixon
A supportive workplace is a productive one and Beth looks to her colleagues at Pinstone for daily inspiration.
“I feel inspired by the amazing group of women I get to work with.
“We all have our own views and opinions. However, we are fully supportive of each other and are our own greatest cheerleaders.
“It’s such a unique workplace.”
Daisy Allen
Empowerment and inclusivity are core values for Daisy, which she credits to her role model.
“The woman who inspires me the most is my mum.
“She is never afraid to stand up for what she believes in. And has the amazing ability to make everyone she meets feel like they’re part of the family. “
Becky George
Communication is key, in both our professional and personal relationships. One renowned communicator is a constant inspiration to Becky.
“From about the age of eight, my idol was the BBC foreign correspondent Kate Adie.
“Articulating clearly and concisely, she gave insight into whatever situation she was reporting on. She continues to be an inspiration and still has the best voice in broadcast.”
At Pinstone, we champion female representation in media and communications. As well as in the food and farming supply chain, continually challenging the traditional stereotypes.
